Objective
The goal of Mahjong Solitaire is to remove all tiles from the board by matching pairs of identical tiles. You win the level when all tiles have been successfully matched and removed.
Basic Rules
- Matching Tiles: Click on two identical tiles to remove them from the board. Both tiles must be "free" (not blocked on the left or right side) to be selected.
- Free Tiles: A tile is considered free if it has no tiles covering its left or right edge. Tiles can be stacked in layers, and you can only select tiles from the top layer that are not blocked.
- Tile Selection: Click on a tile to select it. Selected tiles will be highlighted. Click on another matching tile to create a pair and remove both tiles.
- Matching Area: Selected tiles appear in the matching area at the top of the board. You can select up to 4 tiles before they must be matched.
Tile Types
Mahjong tiles come in several categories:
- Bamboo Tiles (1-9): Numbered tiles with bamboo sticks
- Character Tiles (1-9): Numbered tiles with Chinese characters
- Circle Tiles (1-9): Numbered tiles with circles
- Wind Tiles: North, South, East, and West winds
- Dragon Tiles: Red, Green, and White dragons
- Flower Tiles: Special bonus tiles
- Season Tiles: Special bonus tiles
Only tiles of the exact same type and design can be matched. For example, a "Bamboo 1" can only match with another "Bamboo 1".
Boosters and Power-ups
Use boosters strategically to help you complete challenging levels:
- Undo: Reverses your last move, allowing you to try a different strategy
- Hint: Highlights a matching pair of tiles that you can remove
- Magic Wand: Automatically matches and removes a pair of tiles from the board
- Shuffle: Rearranges all remaining tiles on the board, giving you a fresh perspective
Boosters can be earned by completing levels or purchased with coins. Use them wisely!
Levels and Progression
The game features multiple levels with increasing difficulty. Each level has a unique tile layout pattern. Complete levels to progress and unlock new challenges. Some levels may have special objectives or requirements.
Winning Conditions
- Remove all tiles from the board by matching pairs
- Complete any special objectives for the level (if applicable)
- Earn coins and rewards based on your performance
Losing Conditions
- If you run out of matching pairs and cannot make any more moves, the game is over
- If the matching area is full (4 tiles) and you cannot match any of them, you lose
Tips for Success
- Plan ahead - think about which tiles you'll need to access later
- Prioritize removing tiles that block access to multiple other tiles
- Look for tiles that appear multiple times on the board - they're easier to match
- Pay attention to layers - sometimes you need to remove upper tiles first
- Use hints and boosters when you're stuck, but try to solve puzzles on your own first
- Don't rush - take your time to analyze the board before making moves
Scoring
Your performance is measured by:
- Moves: The number of tile pairs you matched
- Time: How quickly you completed the level
- Efficiency: Completing levels with fewer moves and less time earns better rewards
Earn coins for completing levels, which can be used to purchase boosters and power-ups.
